20" (51 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head with ebony-black complexion, sculpted tight curls, very full cheeks, brown glass eyes, black brows, closed mouth with full lips, brown muslin body, paper mache black lower arms and legs. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1880. Value Points: very distinctive and highly characterized portrait like face, fine lustrous patina, wearing good antique costume, and carrying toy soldier doll.
