Description
16" (41 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head, painted brown hair with defined forelock curls, tiny blue glass sleep eyes, one stroke tiny brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with downcast pouting expression on shaded lips, composition and wooden ball-jointed toddler body, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Fany 230 A 4 M. Comments: Marseille, circa 1910, their rare model was inspired by the sculpture of a young boy by the Dutch 16th century artist, François Duquesnoy, whose style was revived and highly popular in the early 1900s. Value Points: rare model with especially fine quality of sculpting enhanced by luminous bisque, original toddler body and body finish.
