16" (41 cm.) Pink-tinted porcelain shoulderhead with plump face and throat, painted facial features, shaded-blue upper glancing eyes, thick black upper eyeliner, fringed brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, unpierced ears, blonde lambswool wig over cork pate, plump softly-stuffed poupee body in the classic Rohmer manner, gusset-jointing at hips, kid-over-wooden ball jointed at knees designed to utilize the "sitting" strings from torso, kid-over-wooden upper arms, porcelain arms from above the elbows, separately-sculpted fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Mme. Rohmer Brevete SGDG Paris (stamp on torso). Comments: Leontine Rohmer, circa 1857. Value Points: very beautiful early poupee model with superb painting of eyes, original wig, body, matching porcelain arms, and wearing fine original white pique dress with red soutache embroidery which bears the signature of Maria Lusse, the celebrated doll costume designer who operated at 63 Passage Choiseul and, later in 1865, at 4 Rue Rameau in Paris.
