13" (33 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of elderly lady with inclined head, sculpted dark grey hair waved back and forming into a loose coiled chignon at the back of head, strong nose enhanced by gaunt cheeks, enamel inset eyes, closed lips, strong chin, tow-wrapped posable body, carved wooden arms and legs, painted red stockings and green clogs, wearing fine original folklore style costume, coral necklace and carrying woven basket. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, late 1700s, strong features enhanced by fine artistry of painting.
