19" (48 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, lushly-painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked brows with fringed highlights, accented eye corners and nostrils, "O" shaped open mouth with shaded lips, rubber ball inside head with turn screw at the back which, when turned, was designed to cause the bebe to suck the bottle nipple, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Bru Jne 8 (head) Bebe Bru No. 8 (torso) Au Nain Bleu (paper label on body). Comments: Maison Bru, circa 1890, the bebe was commissioned by the luxury Parisian doll shop of Au Nain Bleu. Value Points: especially beautiful example of this model with deeply-defined features, original signed body, fabulous original dress and bonnet, leather shoes by Alart with impressed figure of doll; the doll owns her original trunk with Au Nain Bleu label, along with a bounty of dresses, cape, undergarments, original factory gown, parasol, and more.
