Description
30" (76 cm.) h. 36"w x 31"d including front steps. The two story wooden dollhouse comprises five rooms and a central mezzanine with balustrade, with curved front center panel having crown at the roof-line, opening double front doors, second floor balcony with opening doors, shuttered windows (which open and close) all around, wide front steps, and carved fountain with surmounting lion's head at one end wall. The interior rooms have intricate hand-worked parquet floors, paneled rooms with gold framing, mirrored walls, one built-in fireplace, some attached carvings or paintings, and other intricate details. Excellent condition. The one-of-a-kind dollhouse is a miniature replica of the actual "Chateau Vert" of Merignac, France, built in 1778, whose estate lands, owned by the family Ducasse, were once the site of a respected French vin de Graves. The dollhouse was commissioned by Huguette Clark from the Paris toy and doll shop of Au Nain Bleu in 1986, and is an exacting replica of the original Chateau. A letter of Au Nain Bleu to Huguette Clark is included.
