Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head with very angular features, dark blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with "O" hole at the center, brunette mohair wig, French paper-mache five-piece body with hollow at back torso designed to accommodate a rubber ball which would aid in the whistling sound, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Le Parisien (red stamp). Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1890, the facial model was uniquely designed for this doll to accommodate the whistling activity. Value Points: rare model with original body and costume, wonderful expression, the doll has a blue ribbon award from 1959 UFDC convention in Kansas City.
