Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of man, sculpted fitted helmet with chin strap, tufts of hair at sides of face, beard and moustache stubble, enamel eyes, impressed facial crinkles and cheek creases, strong nose, smiling expression, modeled teeth, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, wearing original costume comprising short homespun pants and matching jacket, laced brown vest with embroidery, shirt, neck scarf, leggings, kidskin laced slippers and kidskin shoulder bag. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, the rare sculpted helmet model has highly-characterized expression enhanced by artistry of painting.
