18à (46 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with very plump cheeks,amber brown glass paperweight inset eyes,thick dark eyeliner,painted lashes,mauve blushed eye shadow,feathered brows,small nose with shaded nostrils,accented eye corners,closed mouth with space between the outlined lips,pierced ears,brunette human hair hand-tied wig over cork pate,all-wooden fully-articulated body with pin and dowel-jointing at shoulders,elbows,wrists,hips,knees and ankles,separately carved fingers and defined toes,included is antique silk and lace dress,muslin chemise and aqua kid leather ankle boots. Condition: generally excellent,light chips to few finger tips. Marks: 2 (head) (inscribed numbers and letters on back torso). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru,circa 1880,the model was first presented by the firm in 1880,the doll is being sold by the family of the original owner,Edith Hinkle of Center Moriches,New York; in 1945 Edith gifted the then-65-year old doll to her young niece Joy Brown of Oak Grove,Missouri during a summer visit and it has been is her care until this time. Value Points: very rare Bru b_b_ is enhanced by gorgeous bisque and wonderful condition of the original finish rare wooden body.
