31" (79 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head of lady with heart-shaped face and elongated strong throat, black sculpted hair with extremely full pouf curls at each side of her face, with stippled detail around the face, and centered by a high beehive of curls wrapped by four narrow braids, muslin stitch-jointed body under handmade sateen body. Condition: original finish albeit craquelure overall the face and shoulderplate. Comments: Germany, circa 1840. Value Points: rare large model with superb detail of hair, original painted finish, fine early gown of transfer patterned cotton with unusual weighted hem, undergarments, red kidskin slippers. The doll wears a President's Choice award ribbon from 1998 UFDC convention.
