34" (86 cm.) Bisque socket head, splendid blue glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve-blushed eyeshadow, brushstroked brows with feathering highlights, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, dimpled chin and philtrum, applied pierced ears, brunette human hair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with plump limbs and straight wrists, lovely antique costume, bonnet and shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 16 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1884, the firm's important portrait bebe sculpted under commission by Carrier-Belleuse. Value Points: gorgeous bebe with most delicate bisque and artistic painting, splendid eyes enhanced by thick dark eyeliner, original body and body finish.
