13" (33 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate with light amber-tinted complexion, brown glass inset eyes, thick upper eyeliner, wide curved single stroke brows, grey lower eyeshadow, closed mouth, two pronounced black beauty marks, ears pierced into head, brunette mohair wig in hip-length braid, shapely kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at hips, kid-over-wooden upper arms, bisque arms from above the elbows and with separately-sculpted fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1867, the doll was likely presented at the 1867 Paris International Exposition, designed to capture the attention of the international traveling clientele. Value Points: rare doll with commanding presence, distinctive painting, near mint state of presentation with beautiful bisque hands and face, very sturdy body and fine original brocade silk costume with beaded and pearl coiffe.
