14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head with slender elongated face, brown glass inset eyes, painted long lashes, slightly-modeled brushstroked brows, strong nose, slightly-parted lips, four porcelain teeth, brunette mohair wig, Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body, gentleman's suit. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: M 1. Comments: Germany, attributed to Dressel from their historical series including Uncle Sam and Admiral Dewey, circa 1895; the subject of this portrait remains a mystery at this time. Value Points: rare character with excellent detail of modeling and bisque.
