17" (43 cm.) Carved wooden head with gofun finish, painted features, black silk hair drawn into topknot tucked under fitted cap, carved wooden hands with long slender fingers, wearing multi-layered costume with brocade medallion designs, hand-stitched drop sash, and with decorated sword case and sword. Excellent condition, one light surface line at lower right cheek, costume slightly dusty. Japanese, Meiji era.
