Description
18" (46 cm.) x 30"w. x 30"d. (not including base). The single story house of fine exotic wood construction has decorative blue paper accents, sliding panel doors, lift-off roof for access to the interior which includes a large tea room, long hallway, and four small rooms, each with accessing doors and enhanced with hand-painted sliding panels. The house rests upon a (separate) gritted base with koi pond. From a series of miniature mid-1900s houses commissioned by Huguette Clark from the Japanese artist, Saburo Kawakami, through the agency of the historic Asian art importer G.T. Marsh of San Francisco and Santa Barbara. The construction as well as native woods are authentic, including sliding doors which are designed to simply fit into the floor and frame grooves in the exact manner of actual buildings. Excellent condition.
