15" (38 cm.) l. of costume. One-piece carved wooden head and torso of aged woman with highly-defined carving of face, incised age lines, jutting chin and nose, downcast lips of closed mouth, brown enamel eyes, thick brows, kid arms, designed to be used as puppet with wooden stick dowel (no legs or dowel). Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American circa 1875. Value Points: highly-characterized, original painted finish, and wearing original calico costume of various prints, high peaked cap, carrying basket.
