Description

17" (43 cm.) Porcelain shoulder head with rounded facial modeling and plump cheeks, painted blue eyes, black upper eyeliner, delicately painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, pale blonde fleeced wig over cork pate, original kid body with typical Rohmer softer stuffing, kid-over-wooden upper arms with dowel jointing, porcelain lower arms with separately sculpted fingers, distinctive leg construction that appears as all-kid but is actually kid over wood lower thighs and calves with ball-jointed knees. Condition: generally excellent, body especially sturdy and fine. Comments: Leontine Rohmer, one of her earliest model poupees, circa 1857. Value Points: very rare early French poupee with exquisite beauty of painting, rare original body with brevete, original superb costume in the "child-enfantine" style.
