Description
12" (30 cm.) Seated upon a paper mache horse with dappled flannel-hide, amber glass eyes, flannel blanket and leatherette harness is a bisque head man depicting George Washington with painted blue eyes, closed mouth, white mohair wig, wooden block torso and lower limbs, painted black boots. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: bisque doll from the historical series of Dressel, circa 1892, in original candy container presentation with removable head on horse to allow for candy storage. Value Points: excellent bisque characterization with strong angular face and nose, original flannel costume of the American hero. Private collection Merle Glickman.
