17" (43 cm.) All-wooden doll with one-piece head and torso, egg-shaped head with painted black hair having shaded detail around the forehead, painted complexion and facial features, blue eyes with one-stroke upper eyeliner and brows, tiny carved nose, painted triangle-shaped mouth, blush cheek spots, articulation at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, simplistic carving of hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Grodnertal, circa 1850. Value Points: fine large size, original painted finish that is well-preserved, carved definition of waist.
