Description
1 1/2" (4 cm.) badge. 12" x 8" membership list. The brass Police Force badge given by Shirley Temple to her members who were expected to perform according to the rules she established, or be forced to pay a fine which she donated to a "milk fund". Included is a membership list of the East of the Sun and West of the Moon Police Station headed by Captain John Griffin and Chief Temple. The members each signed the declaration that "I wish to join this police station for $10,000,000 per week. This will not be paid if I leave within 10 years." Thirty-seven personal signatures follow, many with amusing titles or designations, including Arthur Treacher (Lieut.), Jean Hersholt (Swiss Navy), and Patrolman Ching-Ching.
