Description
4" (10 cm.) Gutta-percha doll with black complexion, modeled hair and features, is wearing cotton costume. The doll is stored in early wooden box with slide lid. Early 1800s. From the private collection of Susan Hill, according to oral history the doll was uncovered from the walls of Mt. Vernon, home of George Washington, during restoration work at the famous estate.
