Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque head with flanged neck, sculpted brown hair in short bobbed fashion with forehead bangs, round blue glass sleep eyes, painted lashes, tinted brows, rounded nose tip, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and accented lips, muslin body, composition limbs, peach crepe dress, undergarments, shoes, stockings. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Copr by Grace C. Rockwell Germany 1397/30. Comments: Germany, circa 1925, from a series of American artist-designed dolls commissioned by George Borgfeldt from German doll firms; the model was marketed as "Betty Jean" (later copyrighted as "Pretty Peggy"). Value Points: few examples of the rare wide-eyed model are known to exist.
