Description
8" (20 cm.) diameter. Of cream softpaste each plate depicts a scene from Theatre Guignol including performances of Faust,Le Tour de Monde,Romeo & Juliette,and others; each scene differs,and in each the puppets are posed against the theatre backdrop with rich architecture and draping. Each is signed "H.C.B.M. Montereau Made in France". Excellent condition,few minor flakes. French,circa 1890,a rare and charming set.
