4" x 3" case. A leather case with gold tooled designs opens to an oval photograph of a young girl demurely seated with painted rural background,holding her white-dressed and bonneted doll. The reverse is marked "Milton Studios" and pen inscribed "a photo taken from a daguerrotype of Adele Leach 2118 Spruce St Phila.Pa with this doll about 1855 to 1860". The original image was color heightened by Milton Studios with delicate varnish overlays,circa 1920. The doll in the image appears to be an early paper mache child with wooden limbs. Excellent condition.
