10" (25 cm.) h. 12" diam. Standing in the center of circular wooden base is a porcelain shoulder head doll with black sculpted hair looped below and behind the ears into a chignon at the back of head, painted blue eyes, red and black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, wooden torso, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, wooden upper arms, porcelain lower arms and legs, folded fists, red painted shoes, early costume. Condition: generally excellent, restoration to lower leg. Comments: Germany, circa 1850. Value Points: rare model with articulated wooden and porcelain limbs, posed on fortune-telling stand with omens such as "with children cross and a scolding wife, my friend, you'll have a wretched life" and "Twice a widow, thrice a wife, Full of change shall be thy life".
