Description
9" (23 cm.) x 14". The heavy card stock box with decorative floral paper has original oval paper label "Toilette de Bebe" and maker's initials of C.B.G. The lid hinges open to reveal well-fitted interior comprising elements of a doll's dressing table, viz. white porcelain wash bowl and pitcher with blue border and floral design, matching pot, and matching tisaniere (teapot with warmer), along with polished metal lidded jar, bed warmer, goblet, trinket box and spoon, sateen bag of Jasmine, and powder puff. Excellent condition. French, circa 1885, the firm of Cuperly, Blondel and Gerbeau produced outstanding doll's toilettes and dinner services during the last half of the 1800s; see The Encyclopedia of French Dolls for a detailed history of the prestige firm.
