Each doll has composition socket head with painted facial features, human hair or mohair wig in distinctive and elaborate coiffure that is different for each doll, five piece composition body. Condition: all excellent except as noted. Marks: Effanbee Anne-Shirley. Comments: Effanbee, circa 1939, the firm proposed to portray ìThe Fashion History of Americaî in the thirty doll series in order ìto make American history vividly alive to childrenî. Each doll was to be garbed as a fashionable lady would have been at pivotal points in American history. The set will be offered in its entirety of 29 dolls with a minimum opening bid of $12,000. Lacking that bid, each doll will be auctioned individually. Absentee bids will be accepted for individual dolls but will not be executed if the set is sold in its entirety. Each doll is named according to original Effanbee title.
