17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, very plump cheeks blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, lightly-feathered brows and lashes, accented nostrils, closed mouth with pale accented lips, ears pierced into head, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French stretched-kid-over wooden body, with metal-hinge hip jointing covered by kid "baggy" upper legs, metal upper arms, bisque forearms, jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent.. Marks: Maison Alice Couterier Paris 8 rue du Dauphin (stamp on torso). Comments: French, circa 1867, from depose body models of Cruchet; the model was presented by the prestige Parisian doll shop of Alice Couterier. Value Points: lovely clarity of complexion and painted features, rare body with boutique label, bisque hands.
