17" (43 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulderhead with oval face, elongated throat, black painted pate, slit cut in crown for insertion of brunette mohair wig, painted facial features, painted blue eyes, black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, closed mouth, hand-stitched kid poupee body with shapely torso and elongated limbs. Condition: generally excellent, some light fading of features. Comments: French, circa 1840. Value Points: early poupee with rare wig slit, early transfer pattern costume.
