Description
22" (56 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulderhead, painted black pate, small black enamel glass inset eyes, painted brows, closed mouth, original brunette human hair wig in looped braided chignon, cloth body, carved wooden arms and legs. Condition: finish has some rubs but is original, few fingers repaired. Comments: Germany, circa 1840. Value Points: strong presence of the early doll with rare body style, elaborate original costume with fine laced brocade vest with bone inserts, green patterned silk skirt with gold metallic trim, undergarments, one "emerald" earring, cross, kidskin heeled shoes.
