Bisque swivel head on custom-fitted bisque shoulderplate designed to allow realistic side-to-side swivel only (rather than 365% swivel),very plump face with full cheeks,small cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes,dark eyeliner,delicately-painted lashes and brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with outlined lips,unpierced ears,brunette mohair wig over cork pate,French kid body with very shapely torso,gusset-jointed hips,stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 3. Comments: attributed to Barrois,circa 1860,who had developed this rare system of neck articulation. Value Points: beautiful doll with distinctive facial modeling,very sturdy body,wearing fine original costume detailed with excellent accessories including green kidskin belt with attached matching purse,watch and chain,and fancy bonnet.
