Description
16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head, dark blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark painted lashes, thick dark eyeliner, brush-stroked and multi-feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with upturned lip corners, richly accented lips, pierced ears, new brunette mohair wringlet-curled wig over Steiner pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists, nicely costumed. Condition: bisque excellent, body is appropriately sized and of the era, albeit not original. Marks: Figure C No 1 J. Steiner Bte SGDG Paris. Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1882. Value Points: very beautiful face with superb painting which enhances the gentle smile.
