Description
16" (41 cm.) Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, deposed neck attachment that allows the head to tilt forward and lean side to side, as well as swivel, cobalt blue glass enamel eyes, painted lashes, lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, ears pierced into head, brunette human hair over cork pate, French firmly stuffed kid body with plump proportions, gusset-jointed hips and knees, kid-over-metal upper arms, bisque lower arms with separately sculpted fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 4 (shoulders). Comments: attributed to Dehors, who registered the neck attachment in 1866, seeking to achieve realistic head movement in dolls; in his depose he specifically cited the perfection of his doll over the earlier well-esteemed Huret poupee. Value Points: beautiful doll with rare depose system, rare bisque hands, lovely antique costume, sturdy body.
