Description
Each was designed originally as a remembrance of a particular ball in Vienna during the busy social season; the theme of each card was symbolic of the organization which sponsored the ball. Comprising an unusual 2" velvet Tyrolean hat with feather and green pom-poms, with details of the February 1888 ball on the underside; 3"h. leather covered mail box with gilt lettering for the ball of February 1895 and an attached leather dance folio on the back side with pencil; and 3" metal-framed medallion with velvet cover, attached metal anchor and sundial, with attached silk covered dance card on the reverse. Excellent condition. Vienna, late 1800s.
