Description
17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate. Having a rare body, beautiful face, wonderful original wig, the doll owns two splendid costumes, as well as the labeled trunk and an assortment of accessories including a signed paisley shawl, heeled leather boots, fur collar and muff with blue silk lining, cashmere jacket, two fine bonnets, two leather purses, and a lorgnette. Condition: there is a small restoration on the throat (under neck ribbon), otherwise bisque is excellent, body especially fine. Marks: A La Poupee de Nuremberg/Lavallee Nuremberg...(original paper label on doll and trunk). Comments: the poupee was presented by the prestige Parisian doll shop, A La Poupee de Nuremberg, of Madame Lavallee-Peronne; known as Lily, the doll was featured in the children's journal, La Poupee Modele, which served as a promotional publication for the store, and is today, a fascinating mode of information about the Paris doll scene in 1863.
