Description
17" (43 cm.) Arranged upon a velvet covered wooden base is a seated bisque doll with blue glass paperweight eyes, open mouth, row of teeth, blonde mohair wig, carton torso and legs, bisque forearms. She sits along side her stall of baked goods, a velvet curtain at the side and an opening at the top. When wound, music plays, she turns her head and raises and lowers her hand while three different heads alternately pop up and down from behind the wall, as though waiting for a chance to snatch a bread loaf. Condition: mechanism and music function well, bisque head is excellent, the automaton is overall dusty and faded. Comments: Renou, circa 1890. Value Points: charming amusing scene.
