Description
17" (43 cm.) Each has cloth head and torso, mask paper mache face having painted complexion and facial features, stitched-on hair, stitched-jointed cloth arms, simplistic wooden lower torso and legs. Condition: poor, sold as is. Comments: French, early 1800s, the dolls wear fragments of their original aristocratic costumes. Value Points: the dolls were acquired by Liv Greta Brem of Oslo, Norway from the Munch estate of Oslo, of which Edvard Munch, the expressionist painter of psychologically-themed works such as "The Scream", was the most noted member.
