Description
22" (56 cm.) x 19" x 8". A very ornate gilded frame encloses a deep shadowbox arrangement of a village scene with stormy sea at the front and a bridge in the background. When wound, the mechanism causes the boat to rock back and forth, a train to travel across the bridge, and the wind mill to turn, while music plays. Condition: mechanism functions willfully, some restoration of internal mechanisms and, possibly, music cylinder, sold as is. Comments: in the style of Tharin of Paris, circa 1860. Value Points: beautifully constructed piece with artistic detail and painting, amusing actions, rich original frame.
