20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head with unique and distinctive facial modeling, blue glass eyes, painted lashes, daintily feathered brows, rounded tip nose, accented nostrils, full lower cheeks and well-modeled chin, closed mouth with slightly fretful lips, brunette hand-tied human hair wig, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body marked Jumeau. Condition: hairline at back of head, body is not original. Marks: A. Marque (incised script). Comments: Albert Marque, the extremely rare art doll created by the French sculptor, circa 1915. A pivotal achievement in the Renaissance of the French doll movement. Value Points: very fine sculpting and painting of features, original wig and pate, the very rare doll is wearing antique plaid wool and velvet dress with matching velvet cap, undergarments, Jumeau signed shoes.
