21" (53 cm.) All carved wood socket head with well defined eyes, nose, mouth and double row of teeth, amber-brown painted complexion, bandanna wrapped hair, loosely jointed for puppet use wooden limbs, twill wrapped and shaped fingers, feet with well-defined toes joint-separated from lower legs. Condition: original carved and painted finish is well preserved, puppetry-stringing is loose (doll stringing could be tightened for presentation as doll). Comments: American, mid-1800s. Value Points: well achieved folk artistry, the doll is wearing original cotton fabric costume, and is seated in antique wooden chair which is included.
