19" (48 cm.) l. of gown, 7"l. smaller gown. The matched pair of gowns are of superbly woven pale blue silk and with padded blue sateen lining; each is richly embellished with silver metallic borders and lace, and having lavish crewel silk floral and leaf embroidery. Excellent condition. Late 1700s, having extraordinary embroidery that is especially rare to find in a matched pair.
