20" (51 cm.) Carved wooden shoulder head of lady with oval face, elongated throat and modeled bosom, carved hair in delicate waves from side part and pulled into a coiled chignon at the nape, light brown "cafe-au-lait" complexion, partially sculpted pierced ears, well-defined carving of facial features including deeply set eye sockets, painted brown eyes with dark eyeliner, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, sew holes along the sides of shoulders, original muslin hand-stitched body and wooden lower arms with cafe-au-lait complexion, nice antique dress and undergarments. Condition: generally excellent, some light paint rubs on original finish. Comments: mid-19th century. Value Points: rare enigma doll with compelling expression, fine original artistic painting.
