16" (41 cm.) All composition, socket head, painted blue eyes in deeply-defined eye sockets, black eyeliner, brown upper eyeliner, short painted lashes, fringed brows, closed mouth with hint of smile, accent line between the lips, jointing at shoulders and hips, classic Effanbee shape of hands, wearing original blue and white cotton school dress, undergarments, shoes and socks. Condition: varnished finish of complexion which appears original. Comments: Effanbee, likely from the American Children series, possibly a prototype, late 1930s. Value Points: especially fine modeling and fine artistic painting of facial features.
