Description
13" (33 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flat-cut neck socket that accommodates to dowel of torso neck, blue glass enamel inset eyes with darker irises, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve-blushed eye shadow, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, ears pierced into head, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden body with shapely waist, eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists and tiny ankles. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 6 (head) E.G. (body stamp). Comments: Ernst Grossman, who in 1880 registered the first German ball-jointed bodies in emulation of the French bebe. Value Points: rare and important doll in doll hisotry is enhanced by its beauty and well-preserved condition.
