7" (18 cm.) -10" The set of cloth dolls depict members of the Coronation party at the 1937 coronation of George VI. Each of seven muslin dolls (7"-10") has stitch-shaped face, muslin painted features, mohair wig, and is wearing an elaborately hand-stitched cloth costume to represent its personage. Included is King George VI in his coronation robes and crown with "jewel" accents, Queen Mother Elizabeth with crown and matching velvet robe with "ermine" trim, Lord High Chancellor in coronation robes, Queen Mary, mother of George VI, Archbishop of Canterbury, and the princesses Margaret Rose and Elizabeth in the dresses worn for their father's coronation. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: each of the dolls has original cloth label "Liberty of London". Comments: English, 1937. Value Points: the completeness of the ensemble is exceptionally rare as is the remarkably fine state of preservation of each meticulously created figure.
