Description
20" (51 cm.) The gilded bird cage with gilded carved wooden base has carrying loop; inside is a green velvet base with brass bar upon which is perched a red feathered bird surrounded by silk flowers and leaves, and with hinged opening door at the side. When wound, the bird flitters back and forth, opens and closes beak and sings his bird songs. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, attributed to Bontems, circa 1875. Value Points: beautifully-detailed singing bird arrangement.
