14" (36 cm.) Bisque shoulder head, blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, slightly-parted lips with double row of teeth, outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, bisque arms to above the elbows, carton torso with full-length skirt that encloses clockwork mechanism, with sateen skirt cover, hidden wheels at the wooden base; when wound, the doll glides, turns, revolves,and moves arms up and down as though waltzing. Condition: generally excellent, restoration to two finger tips on right hand, mechanism functions well. Comments: Jules Steiner, 1867. Value Points: an especially lovely face with dramatic cobalt blue eyes contrasting pale bisque, rare bisque arms.
