Comments: SFBJ, circa 1930, the doll is wearing the traditional costume of the Bourgogne region of France; according to a letter with the Koenig Collection, the coiffe was no longer worn by the end of the 19th century as too many young girls were developing cavities at the top of their head from wearing the heavily-weighted coiffe; arguably one of the most distinctive of the French traditional coiffes, it required perfect balance to wear. Value Points: unplayed condition, the perfectly-preserved folklore costume includes distinctive and rare brelot coiffe, original coiffure.
