Description
17" (43 cm.) Pair of all-felt dolls depicting man and woman character, each with center-seam face, stitch-shaped nose, painted facial features, woolen hair, jointing at shoulders and legs, oversized felt arms and legs, each wearing original costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: made by R. John Wright Brattleboro, Vermont (original paper labels, with artist signature). Comments: R. John Wright, late 1970s. Attached is a paper note detailing the provenance of the doll as cited by Billie Welker. Value Points: rare-to-find early work by the American artist.
