13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose-blushed eye shadow, feathered brows, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent, hands repainted. Marks: E 4 J (small letters at back of head). Comments: Sonneberg, mystery maker, circa 1884, the doll sought to capture the French bebe market, in this instance even going so far as to impress the Jumeau signature on the doll. Value Points: intriguing mystery doll with appealing shy expression, beautiful eyes.
